Amazon.com Product Description
Cruise around town in relaxed style with the Diamondback Serene women's comfort bike. The Serene offers many of the same comforts and features as the Serene Deluxe, but with a more comfortable price tag. The Serene is equipped with a heat-treated aluminum frame with Laid Back Comfort (LBC) geometry, a 50mm suspension fork, seven-speed twist shifters, and a DB comfort saddle with super-soft foam. It also offers a few upgrades from the Diamondback Serene Citi bike, including compact gearing, puncture-resistant tires, and Biologic dual-density comfort grips. Add the features together and you have a terrific bike for rides to the grocery store or casual commutes.

About Diamondback's LBC Geometry
During the development of LBC Geometry, Diamondback engineers were faced with the challenge of making the comfort bike more comfortable and easier to use without compromising its handling and maneuverability. They started by tilting the seat tube back. Way back. This allows the rider to be seated further behind the bottom bracket and in a lower position, which not only makes for a more stable and comfortable ride, but also allows for full leg extension to the pedals. At the same time, the design still keeps the rider seated low enough on the bike that he or she can quickly and easily plant both feet firmly on the ground. The result is happier knees and much easier mounting and dismounting.

Once the rider's ideal position was determined, the engineers recognized two places they could improve the handling of the bike by not changing anything at all. Whereas other companies have been tempted to lengthen the chainstays and tilt the head tube back, Diamondback engineers opted for another approach, leaving the length of the rear end alone to maintain superior shifting performance and stable handling. Then they designed a new comfort handlebar with more back sweep, helping bring the handle grips within reach. Because the angle and location of the head tube remains unchanged, Diamondback didn't compromise the performance of the bike.

4 out of 5 stars Serene, a good old bird's bike   July 6, 2010

Bought two of these. One for my mother and one for her sister. They are both in their 60's and needed comfort. It was easy to assemble. Plenty of adjust-ability. Only downside is because of the limited (read: nonexistent) top tube, they are hard to put on a trunk bike carrier. Ride super smooth and are superbly comfortable. I would recommend!

4 out of 5 stars Nice bike for anyone who want a recreational device!   May 23, 2010

Got this in 15' frame for my wife. She loves it as soon as she saw it. Buy one and enjoy biking on it. By the way we live in San Francisco, a nice place for biking although there's a lot of up-and-downs.

4 out of 5 stars Decent Bike   May 17, 2010

I just got this bike and found that it was heavier than expected. I still love it though. I'm not leaning over so much while riding which really helps my back. The color is pretty (not as light as it looks in the picture on here) like a sea green. It shifts gear pretty nicely. Don't expect it to be super fast as the tires provide more traction and control. When the bike came in the mail it was pretty easy to put together. They send you a set of L wrenches and crescent wrench but forget about the phillips screwdriver you may need. The bike seat is a lot nicer than most. This is a 21 speed bike supposedly. It is very easy to mount so if you have a kid seat attached you're not likely to worry about kicking their head. It does not come with a kickstand so think about purchasing one if you want to make it easier on you. Kickstands are cheap. It doesn't come with a water bottle cage but does have mounts. Reflectors are included in this package. It's nice that the handles bend back to you more so you don't feel like you're reaching. You will need to adjust brakes before getting on. Neither the back or front was set right when I got mine. I really wish this was a lighter bike like the diamond serene CLASSIC women's comfort bike!

5 out of 5 stars Love this comfort bike!   March 15, 2010

I love this comfort bike! I am 5'9" and the 17" (Large) frame is perfect for me. This bike is perfect for the casual rider who rides mainly on streets and paved or worn bike paths. The seat and handle bar handles are very comfortable and I like how upright I sit - great for the back! The seat and front wheel have easy release, helping you to deter bike thieves, if you're going to lock up your bike outside for an extended period. I like that it looks and feels like a classic cruiser bike but it has gears and multiple speeds, making hills not so bad. I also like the classic walk-through frame. A bike shop told me that it's traditionally so girls/ladies can wear dresses and skirts. I never knew that! Going for a joyride is not only comfortable but very charming looking, especially with a pretty summer dress on.

5 out of 5 stars Serene ROCKS   September 16, 2009

Love the Serene, cushy comfy seat, best handlebar grips ever, handlebars adjust 3 ways-height, depth, and angle. I sit pretty upright like on a cruiser bike. Love that there is so much clearance when standing over the bar, makes getting on and off bike so easy. I am 5'3" with a 29" inseam and have the
x-small/13" and have the seat set as low as it goes, top of seat is 32" from floor, there is 3" of bar but it doesn't go any lower than that because of a sheath that's there, it will raise up another 4", so the seat height can be up to 36" from floor. I havn't had a bike since I was 15 so I really tried to figure out exactly what I needed and what size and ultimately went with my inseam as a guide, most websites told me I needed a 17" frame for a 29" inseam, which would have been way too big for me, and a frame 2" bigger doesn't actually mean 2" taller, bike sizing is crazy, aahh, diamondback's site suggests you go to a bike shop which may be a good idea because each brand is different, but I think this bike is perfect for a smaller woman or a child who has outgrown a kidsize bike.

Amazon has marked some of these bike's wrong, I bought a small/13" but there is no such thing, its really an x-small/13", its marked on the bike. For this comapnay a x-small is 13", small is a 15", medium is 17", so listed above is x-small/13" & small/13" but they are both the 13" frame so they both should be marked x-small/13". A discrepancy like that can be annoying but I think if you go by the frame size you'll get what you expect.
